Preventive sealant keeps haul trucks and loaders working by sealing tread punctures as they happen, instead of waiting for a flat and a tyre change. OKO Original Mining coats the inside of the tyre and permanently seals multiple punctures up to 20mm as the machine moves. A 26.5 R25 tyre takes 7.25 litres for normal service or 21.5 litres for severe service; for the very largest tyres, OKO Premium Tyre Care Lifelong is the better fit.
How it works inside an OTR tyre
As soon as the tyre revolves, centrifugal force spreads the sealant across the whole tread, and it works whenever the machine is moving. When rock or debris punctures the tread, air pressure forces the sealant into the hole, where it bonds with the rubber almost instantly and forms a tough, flexible, permanent plug.
- Multiple punctures: only a small amount is used for each one.
- Keep running: a sealed tyre can be driven for as long as the tyres with no punctures.
- Longer tyre life: expect at least 20% more, even with no punctures, because the tyre runs cooler, more flexible and at the right pressure.
- An alternative to solid fill: at maximum recommended dosage, it can be a cost-effective alternative to solid-fill tyres without adding excessive weight or causing poor ride quality.
For how this compares with plugging and vulcanised repairs, see preventive tyre sealant vs puncture repair.
Doses by tyre size: Normal, Severe and Lifelong
The dosage calculator gives two service levels for OKO Mining. Severe-service doses are roughly two to three times the Normal dose. Lifelong doses are shown where the calculator lists that size.
| Tyre size | Mining, Normal | Mining, Severe | Lifelong |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14.00 R24 | 3.75 L | 8 L | 9 L |
| 17.5 R25 | 5 L | 12.5 L | 11 L |
| 20.5 R25 | 5.75 L | 16.75 L | 13 L |
| 23.5 R25 | 6.5 L | 19.25 L | 14 L |
| 26.5 R25 | 7.25 L | 21.5 L | 16 L |
| 29.5 R25 | 8 L | 23.75 L | – |
| 875/65 R29 | 9.5 L | 28.25 L | – |
| 18.00 R33 | 6.75 L | 17.25 L | – |

OTR sizes come in several formats. If you are unsure how to enter yours, read how to read a tyre size.
Mining or Lifelong: which tyres get which
OKO Original Mining
For any tubeless off-the-road tyre where punctures are a real risk: dump and haul trucks, wheel loaders, excavators, service vehicles and support machinery, in surface and underground operations. It is most effective in tyres above 25 inches of wheel diameter. It is not suitable for high-speed or on-road vehicles.
OKO Premium Tyre Care Lifelong
Lifelong is a conditioner, not a sealant: it does not seal punctures. For the very largest, thickest tyres of 50 inches and above, where punctures are not common but tyre life is cut short by external damage, OKO recommends Lifelong. It flows freely, reduces pressure loss and heat build-up, and protects steel and alloy rims from corrosion even when the machine is parked. It can extend tyre life by up to 30%. A UV-sensitive tracer helps you find leaks and casing damage, and it washes out with water before retreading. It is for low-speed machines, not vehicles that regularly exceed 50 mph (80 km/h), and comes in 25 litre drums and 1000 litre IBCs.
Applying it in the workshop or on site
- Position the valve at 4 or 8 o'clock so the sealant is not blocked at the bottom of the tyre.
- Remove the valve core with a valve core remover. Mining tyres often have large-bore valves, so an adapter is needed for the drum pump.
- Screw the Metallic Application Pump for 25L Drums into the drum, open the black tap and prime it until sealant reaches the tap.
- Set the collar to 50, 100, 150 or 200 ml per stroke, up to 250 ml. A 7.25 litre Normal dose is 29 full strokes at 250 ml. The pump works against up to 60 psi (4.1 bar); deflate to that level first if the tyre is higher.
- Close the tap, unclip the hose, let air blow from the valve for a few seconds, refit the core and inflate to operating pressure.
- Rotate the tyre or drive a short distance, then flush the pump with clean water.
You can also pour a measured amount into an open tubeless tyre after mounting one bead. Always apply to new or fresh tyres.
Before you start
- TPMS: not compatible with direct systems using valve sensors with narrow air passages; usually fine with sensors fitted to the inner wheel rim.
- Inner tubes: OKO's guidance is that tubes cannot seal big punctures. See tyre sealant in inner tubes.
- Cold sites: OKO Mining freezes at -15 °C to -19 °C; lower-freezing versions are supplied on request.
- Transport: classified non-hazardous and safe to ship by air, sea or land.
Quick answers
What size puncture will mining tyre sealant seal?
OKO Original Mining permanently seals multiple tread-area punctures up to 20mm.
Should I use the Normal or Severe dose?
The dosage calculator gives both for each size. Severe doses are roughly two to three times Normal; for a 26.5 R25 tyre that is 7.25 litres Normal or 21.5 litres Severe.
What is the difference between OKO Mining and Lifelong?
Mining is a sealant that seals punctures up to 20mm. Lifelong is a conditioner that does not seal punctures; it cuts pressure loss, heat and rim corrosion, and is recommended for the largest tyres of 50 inches and above.
Is OKO Mining compatible with TPMS?
Not with direct systems that use valve sensors with narrow air passages. If the sensors are fitted to the inner wheel rim, the sealant can usually be applied.
