Yes, a preventive sealant works well in tubeless road motorcycle tyres. OKO Original On-Road Motorcycle sits inside the tyre and seals multiple tread punctures up to 5mm as you ride, and it is formulated for sustained road speeds up to 130 km/h (80 mph). It is not for ultra-low-profile racing tyres, off-road riding or sidewall damage.
What it seals, and what it cannot
The sealant stays in liquid suspension inside the tyre. When something pierces the tread, air pressure forces it into the hole, where it forms a strong, flexible, airtight seal within seconds. That helps keep tyre pressure, stability and rider control, rather than leaving you on the hard shoulder with a flat.
- Puncture size: multiple tread-area punctures up to 5mm, sealed permanently.
- Tread only: sidewall damage cannot be sealed by any tyre sealant.
- Several punctures: only a small amount is used for each one, so protection continues through the life of the tyre.
It is preventive, not an emergency fix. For how that differs from plugs and aerosol cans, see preventive tyre sealant vs puncture repair.
Which motorcycles and tyres it suits
| Suitable | Not suitable |
|---|---|
| Tubeless on-road tyres on motorcycles, scooters and mopeds | Ultra-low-profile racing tyres |
| Commuter, touring, delivery and daily-use motorcycles | Off-road use (OKO Original Off-Road is the formula for that) |
| Crossover tyres on dual-purpose and on/off-road machines | Sidewall damage |
| Sustained road speeds up to 130 km/h / 80 mph | Inner tubes (the formula is designed for tubeless tyres) |

How much sealant a motorcycle tyre needs
Doses depend on rim size, width and profile. These examples come from the OKO dosage calculator:
| Tyre size | Rim | Dose per tyre |
|---|---|---|
| 160/60 R17 | 17" | 350 ml |
| 150/70 R17 | 17" | 300 ml |
| 140/80-17 | 17" | 300 ml |
| 110/70-17 | 17" | 200 ml |
| 100/90-19 | 19" | 250 ml |
| 120/70-12 | 12" | 200 ml |
| 130/70-12 | 12" | 200 ml |
A pair of 110/70-17 front and 160/60 R17 rear takes 550 ml in total, which fits within one 1 litre bottle. The formula also comes in 5 litre and 25 litre packs for dealers and delivery fleets.
Fitting it in eight steps
Always fit sealant to new or fresh tyres for the longest protection.
- Turn the wheel so the valve sits at the 4 or 8 o'clock position.
- Remove the valve core with the remover built into the bottle cap, and let the tyre deflate.
- Hold the bottle tube tightly around the valve stem.
- Squeeze in the dose. For accurate dosing, use the OKO 150ml Tyre Sealant Injector, marked in 5ml steps.
- Blow any residue out of the valve stem with a compressor.
- Refit and tighten the valve core.
- Inflate to the motorcycle manufacturer's recommended pressure.
- Straight away, rotate the wheel or ride a short distance so the sealant spreads evenly.
From then on it seals tread-area punctures as they happen, while you ride.
Living with it
- Tyre life: it stays active for the tyre's service life and helps extend tyre lifespan by at least 20%, by keeping pressure correct and reducing internal heat build-up.
- Rims: anti-corrosion and anti-rust additives protect alloy and steel rims from internal corrosion.
- Winter: the freezing point is -16 °C to -24 °C, so it stays liquid in normal winter conditions. More in does tyre sealant freeze?
- Safety and transport: it is non-hazardous and safe to transport by air, sea or land.
